Grocery delivery boy arrested for raping female customer in Noida
Noida: In a disturbing incident, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a delivery boy who had come to deliver groceries at her residence in a residential complex in Greater Noida of Uttar Pradesh. The horrifying event occurred on Friday, October 27, and has sparked outrage in the region.
The accused, identified as Sumit Singh, has been apprehended by the police and is currently under arrest. Sumit was assigned as the delivery person for the woman’s grocery order through a mobile app.
Reports suggest that upon reaching the woman’s home, Sumit Singh discovered that she was alone. He forcibly entered her house, where he is accused of sexually assaulting her before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, the victim filed a complaint in the nearby police station. Based on the complaint, police detained Sumit and initiated an investigation into the matter.
When the police confronted Sumit, he managed to disarm one of the constables and attempted to escape. During the subsequent pursuit, he fired shots at the police teams. In response, the police fired back, injuring Sumit in the leg.
Sumit Singh is presently in police custody and is receiving medical treatment at a hospital. It has come to light that he has a previous record of being arrested for selling illegal liquor.
