Raghuvar Das takes oath as the new Governor of Odisha, see photos
Bhubaneswar: Raghuvar Das took oath as the 26th Governor of Odisha at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. Acting Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Justice Vidyut Ranjan Sarangi administered the oath of office to Raghubar Das.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and many other dignitaries were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Later, after taking oath as the Governor, he took the Guard of Honor at Raj Bhavan. Before taking oath this morning, Raghuvar Das visited the famous Lingaraj temple and had darshan of Lord Lingaraj. I prayed to God that the state of Odisha and our country reach new heights of development. The people of Odisha are witness to prosperity and happiness.
On reaching Puri on Monday, Das worshiped Lord Jagannath. The veteran BJP leader served as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2014 to 2019. Raghuvar Das was named as the new Governor of Odisha by President Draupadi Murmu on 18 October. He has also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
