Drug smuggler arrested with illegal substances and fake currency
In a significant operation, Guwahati Crime Branch caught two female drug smugglers in Rehbari area. The arrest took place on Wednesday and the action took place under the jurisdiction of Paltan Bazar police station. These drug dealers were trying to sell their illegal substances around the State Bank of India (SBI) ATM.
During the operation, the crime branch seized 145 vials filled with illegal medicines. Additionally, they also discovered 20 fake Indian currency notes, each having a denomination of Rs 500, and seized four mobile phones from the possession of the suspects.
The persons involved in this illegal activity have been identified as Sharifa Khatoon and Sajida Begum. At present, he is undergoing intensive interrogation at Paltan Bazar Police Station.
Last evening, Special Task Force (STF) Assam received confidential information due to which a raid was conducted at Comfort Home Hotel located near Maharishi Vidya Mandir School at Lalmati, Borsojai, Jagran Path under the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station. During this action, one person was detained in connection with the incident.
STF Assam also unearthed a large quantity of fake Indian currency. This included 280 fake rupees. 500 denomination notes, two mobile phones, a fake currency printing machine, 21 rolls of sparkling tape, two transparent book covers, an HP DeskJet 2332 printer, a ream of white A-4 size paper, a scale, a utility knife . And 38 green wrapped items. Besides this, they also found bundles of white paper amounting to Rs. 500 denomination currency notes, along with five fake Rs. 500 notes in one bundle and four notes in the other.
