According to the information, Inspector Rahul Tripathi was posted as in-charge of Harauni police station of Bansur from Mohanalganj police station for a few months.
Anti-corruption team chief Nurul Huda Khan said that the inspector was the IO (investigating officer) in the case of luring a teenage girl from Bantara. The accused took the girl to the house of Vinod Kumar, resident of MF Tower on Mohan Road. After this the inspector threatened the victim and demanded Rs 20,000. Fed up with the continuous threats he was receiving, Vinod complained about the matter to the anti-corruption team. After this, the victim took Rs 10,000 and went to Inspector Rahul Tripathi at Kharouni Chowki. As soon as the inspector sitting at the post took the money. After this, the trap team caught the accused inspector red handed while taking bribe. After this the inspector was taken to PGI police station. After this the group registered a case against the bribe taking inspector of PGI police station. Eyewitnesses said that the inspector was sitting at his post when more than a dozen people in three cars entered the inspector’s premises. Then he took the inspector out and took him to his car. Later they beat him up and put him in the car and drove away. There was an argument between the inspector and these people. Due to this, the stick attached to the inspector’s uniform burst and fell on the ground.
