Holiday declared on 13th November

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Monday declared November 13 (a day after Diwali) a government holiday. This announcement has been made in the wake of requests by government officials and teachers to seek leave on Monday.

A release issued by the state government on Monday evening said that keeping in mind the welfare of students, their parents, teachers and government employees/officials, the government has ordered a one-day holiday only on Monday (November 13) , who are returning from their native places. Celebrating Diwali (12th November).

Orders have been issued to declare holiday on November 13 in all government offices, public sector undertakings, schools and colleges.

The government has announced that November 18 will be a working day to compensate for the holiday, the release said.
