Dog bites child, death
Meerut. Recently, in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, the news of death of 14 year old Shahvez due to spread of rabies infection in his body due to dog bite was reported. The second incident has come to light from Suryapuram Colony in Brahmapuri police station area of Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. 12 year old Dushyant, living here, was bitten by a stray dog roaming in the street about 2 months ago. At that time Dushyant was taken to a personal doctor. The doctor gave him a tetanus injection and sent him home. Later gradually the rabies infection spread throughout the body. On November 1, Dushyant started having problems. The family members showed him to many big hospitals including AIIMS Delhi, Safdarjung Delhi and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. But, the doctors declared Dushyant incurable. Finally, on 6 November, Dushyant died in agony. After this incident, people have become very conscious about the safety of their children.
According to the data of Pyare Lal Sharma (PLS) District Hospital of Meerut district, if we talk about the cases, more than 125 cases of dog bite are reported every day. Rabies is a disease caused by a virus called rabies. It is mainly a disease of animals. But it also spreads to humans through infected animals. This virus lives in the saliva of infected animals and when an animal bites a human, this virus enters the human body. It’s also possible that infected saliva may cause infection in someone’s eyes, mouth, or open wound. Symptoms of this disease appear in humans for several months to several years. But generally in humans these symptoms appear in 1 to 3 months. Rabies infection is spread by the bite of an animal infected with rabies. In most cases, this disease occurs in humans due to dog bite or scratch.
