Gas cylinder explodes in closed restaurant
Dehradun: On the night of Diwali, a gas cylinder exploded due to a fire in a closed restaurant on Tyagi Road. Fire fighters reached the spot and brought the fire under control.
At around 10 pm on Diwali night, people set off fireworks in front of their homes on Tyagi Road in the city centre. Then suddenly there was a huge explosion and the power went off immediately. People of the area thought that the transformer had caught fire, but after some time they came to know that there was an explosion in Panwar Restaurant located on Tyagi Road. At the spot, the Mission Nyay team saw that there was a massive fire in the restaurant and after breaking the shutter of the premises, a large part of the gas cylinder had crossed the road and entered inside a hotel, breaking the glass door. Located opposite.
A shop on the first floor above Panwar Restaurant also caught fire from outside and electrical wires also caught fire. People nearby had already informed the fire brigade. After a few minutes, fire fighters and police vehicles also reached the spot. The fire brigade vehicle brought the fire under control within some time, but by then everything like furniture, ration, fridge etc. was burnt to ashes.
Apart from this, a lot of damage was also caused when a part of the gas cylinder in the hotel burst and entered the hotel. There was no loss of life in this accident. Fire personnel present at the spot said that the cause of the fire is being investigated.
