A call for climate action to conserve nature

Guwahati (ANI): Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday called for community commitment to shape the future of children by building on the foundation of the vital value system of India’s rich heritage. He also stressed the need for climate action to protect and conserve nature for the future of children.
The Union Minister was participating in the All Assam Children’s Drama Competition organized as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Guwahati Shishu Natya Vidyalaya at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Union Minister Sonowal said, “I am extremely happy to be a part of this wonderful program to commemorate the silver jubilee celebrations of Guwahati Shishu Natya Vidyalaya. Your noble initiative of promoting the endeavor of our children to participate in this drama competition will help our young minds.” Take a flight of imagination to explore limitless possibilities. To foster their delicate yet highly imaginative minds, our children should be guided to grow up based on the foundation laid by the rich heritage of India with a strong value system. “Their minds must be carefully engaged with rational thinking, clarity of thought and cultural ethos so that they can move forward to unlock opportunities for building a better and brighter tomorrow.”

He further said that children are the best asset today for a strong nation and a happy and healthy humanity tomorrow. He said, “This unique platform of Guwahati Shishu Natya Vidyalaya will definitely contribute to this and provide them with the necessary experience in creative arts to showcase their creativity and talent.”
Parents of 225 children present at the event also interacted with Union Minister Sonowal, where the need for climate action to preserve and protect nature for the future of children was emphasized.

Sonowal said, “Today, we stand on the cusp of a major change in human history after the pandemic. We have an opportunity because we have realized the urgent need for climate action to conserve and protect nature for the future of children. I urge all parents to inculcate the intention for this in their children. Only, with the commitment of the parent community, can we bring positive change and help our children build a beautiful tomorrow. Beyond climate, it is also important that children are equipped to deal with the complexities of the modern world. This can be done with the help of healthy body, mind and soul, which are the greatest assets of any person.”

He further said that the rich traditions of Ayurveda and Yoga provide wonderful platforms to spiritually empower others to acquire a healthy body and develop self-awareness.
“The Government of India is carrying out several programs to create awareness in this regard. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we have been able to create a value proposition for the youth to adopt and accept Yoga.

It is imperative that we impart this wonder of India’s rich heritage to children so that they can move forward towards a healthy and happy future,” he said.
Also present at the event were Dilip Bora, senior officer of Guwahati Shishu Natya Vidyalaya, Chief Advisor; Bandita Phukan, Additional Advisor; Other well-wishers of the institute included President Hrishikesh Goswami and Vice President Hitesh Barua. (ANI)
