Mastermind who murdered TMC leader arrested
Kolkata. The West Bengal Police in Kolkata has finally arrested CPI(M) leader Anisul Lashkar, the mastermind of the murder of Trinamool Congress leader Saifuddin Lashkar in Jinagar in South 24 Parganas district on Monday morning. After the death of Saifuddin Lashkar, the local people retaliated by killing a person named Sahabuddin Shaikh. The violent mob also set fire to 12 houses of CPI(M) workers that morning.
State police officials said suspected leader Anisul Lashkar was arrested from Ranaghat in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Thursday afternoon. After the murder of the Trinamool Congress leader, he fled to Nadia district via Sandakhali in North 24 Parganas and planned to move to Murshidabad district. Anisul Lashkar was taken to Baroipur District Police Station and is being interrogated there. This is the second arrest by the police in this case. Police had earlier arrested Sahar al-Sheikh in this case.
On Monday, the police first saved the Trinamool Congress leader’s murder suspect from being beaten by local people and arrested him after preliminary interrogation. The police have now arrested five more people in connection with this incident. Investigators are also probing the matter. However, Anisur Rahman’s family claims that he had nothing to do with the murder of the Trinamool Congress leader and that he fled after learning that he would be killed on the same charges as Sahabuddin Shaikh.
