Illegal liquor worth lakhs seized before dry day
Madhya Pradesh. In Madhya Pradesh, a dry day has been declared till 17th November regarding the assembly elections. In this connection, police have seized large quantities of illicit liquor in two different districts. In Seoni district, police have arrested 4-5 accused with 155 boxes of liquor from a house. Similarly, in Morena district, police have arrested an accused with 13 boxes of liquor in an e-rickshaw.
Kotwali police station of the district today seized 155 boxes of liquor from a house in Tilak Ward. Liquor was systematically distributed in bags to attract voters before voting. According to the police, the value of the seized goods is estimated to be around Rs 5 lakh. In this case, the police have detained Arvind Tijwa Sahu, Seema, Amit, Mana Thakur and Dulari Dulichand and are interrogating them.
The cyber police of the district seized 13 boxes of country liquor from the e-rickshaw during patrolling and arrested the accused Rakesh Shivhare. During interrogation, the accused told that he was bringing the liquor from Islampura contract. Police reached the spot when it was dry day. When the contract was opened, a person was present inside. District Excise Officer Jitendra Gurjar was seen evading the question of operation of Ahte. At present, the police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
