Excise Department’s rapid raids continue during dry period

Mahasamund. In order to conduct the assembly election work in the district smoothly and impartially, the excise team of the district remained in alert mode during the dry period/day closure declared by Collector and District Magistrate Prabhat Malik.

The Excise team carried out continuous patrolling and conducted surprise checks on the sealing of country liquor warehouses, bars and liquor shops and the deployment of security guards. During this period, with the aim of banning the entire liquor transaction, hotels, dhabas and suspicious premises were searched/investigated and when cases of illegal liquor sale came to light, cases were registered under the Excise Act.

During this period, a total of 35 raids were conducted to take effective action against illicit liquor and a total of 797.82 liters of illicit liquor and 9450 kg of Mahua Lahan were seized in 10 cases.
In the border area of Odisha, 161 pouches (32.20 litres) of Odisha made liquor were seized by Excise Staff Bargarh/Nuapara and Excise Staff Saraipali/Bagbahra in coordination with the border and conducting a joint raid. In order to effectively control the smuggling of drugs across the border, intensive checking of vehicles was done in joint action with the static surveillance team and flying squad at the district’s border check post Khamharpali and Temri.
