Congress councilor murdered amid elections, Congress candidate in shock

Bhopal: A tragic incident unfolded before the voting in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh, where a councilor was reportedly killed amid a clash between BJP and Congress supporters in the early hours of Friday. The police disclosed this information on the same day.

The deceased, Salman Khan, a resident of Manzoor Nagar village in Khajuraho, was fatally injured by vehicles purportedly affiliated with BJP candidate Arvind Pateria and his supporters. At the time, Vikram Singh Natiraja, the Congress candidate from the Chhatarpur seat, was also present alongside the victim. The incident reportedly occurred in Rajnagar assembly constituency at around 2 am.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicate a confrontation between the two groups, stemming from a disagreement over yielding the right-of-way during their respective operations.

The altercation between supporters of Congress candidate Nathiraja and those of BJP candidate Arvind Patria escalated into violence when a group allegedly used vehicles to harm a Congress worker, leading to his tragic demise.

Serious allegations have arisen, suggesting that the assailants specifically targeted Natiraja and Khan. The attack purportedly commenced by intentionally ramming a vehicle into them, followed by gunfire into the air. This assault claimed the life of Salman Khan and deeply affected Congress candidate Vikram Singh Natiraja. Similarly, during the voting in the Dhimni assembly seat of Morena district on Friday morning, one person sustained injuries after being shot at a polling booth. Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar contested from Dhimni against Congress’s Ravindra Tomar.

In another distressing incident in Harda district, a person reportedly passed away due to electrocution at a polling booth. Concurrently, BJP workers reportedly attacked Congress supporters with swords in Indore’s Mhow assembly seat.

Likewise, in Chhindwara, chaos ensued when MPCC president Kamal Nath’s son and Chhindwara MP Nakul Nath visited a polling booth on Friday. Allegedly, BJP workers disrupted the proceedings, attempting to prevent Nakul Nath from entering the polling booth. However, order was eventually restored with the intervention of security forces stationed at the polling station.
