Woman and girl died, people came in the grip of dangerous wire
Muzaffarpur: Entire Bihar is in joy of Chhath festival. Meanwhile, in Muzaffarpur, a family was devastated by the death of mother and son on the day of Kharna. The incident took place in Paharpur village of Saraiya police station area. On Saturday afternoon, a mother and son died after coming in contact with an electric wire installed in their field. While saving her, the deceased’s husband Laxman Paswan got injured due to electric shock.
The deceased were identified as Sumila Devi (33) and Navneet Kumar (5). After the accident, after the information given by the local people, the department personnel stopped the power supply. Saraiya police reached the spot and sent the body to SKMCH for post-mortem amidst a lot of protest. The incident has spread mourning in the entire village and people are very angry at the farmer who electrocuted his field.
According to the information, Yogendra Bhagat of Paharpur had run electric wires around his field to protect his vegetable crops from wild animals. At the time of the accident, current was flowing in the wire. Laxman Paswan was going through the field with his wife and son to pack paddy in the field. Meanwhile, mother and son got electrocuted. Laxman tried to save them, but by then both of them were dead. Laxman was partially injured. After receiving information about the accident, Saraiya SDPO Kumar Chandan, Saraiya SHO Jaiprakash Singh reached the spot with their team and took information about the incident. SDPO Kumar Chandan said that after receiving the application, action will be taken by registering an FIR. At present the accused are absconding after leaving the house.
The JE of the Electricity Department has also lodged an FIR regarding the death of mother and son due to electrocution in Paharpur. In the application given in Saraiya police station, JE Aditya Narayan of Electricity Branch has said that after receiving the information of death due to electrocution, the matter was investigated. Yogendra Bhagat was stealing electricity by bypassing the meter, due to which the company suffered a loss of Rs 59980. Therefore, an FIR for energy theft should be registered and action should be taken against the accused.
