David Warner will miss the T20 series against India
New Delhi (ANI): Australia opener David Warner will not play in the upcoming T20 series against India after being withdrawn from the squad after the ODI World Cup 2023, according to a report in ESPNcricinfo.
The 37-year-old joins a group of other Australian players who will miss the T20I series ahead of the three-match Test series against Pakistan on December 14.
According to ESPNcricinfo, World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will also miss the upcoming 20-over format series along with Australian all-rounders Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh.
Warner had performed brilliantly with the Australian team in the ODI World Cup 2023. He has scored 535 runs at a strike rate of 108.29 after playing 11 innings.
All-rounder Aaron Hardy has been included in the T20 squad.
Kane Richardson will replace Spencer Johnson in the T20 series as he has a hamstring injury.
Despite starting just four days after the ODI World Cup final, the series is part of preparations for next year’s T20 edition in the West Indies and the United States. Australia will play six more T20I series before the start of next year’s T20 edition in the West Indies and USA.
35-year-old Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade will lead the World Cup-winning team in the upcoming T20 series against India.
The first match will take place in Visakhapatnam on November 23, just four days after concluding India’s ICC Cricket World Cup campaign on home soil with a six-wicket defeat to Australia in the final in Ahmedabad. (ANI)
