Bailable warrant against BJP MLA Nitish Rane in defamation case
Mumbai (ANI): A bailable warrant was issued against BJP MLA Nitish Rane on Tuesday in connection with the defamation complaint filed against him by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.
The court has fixed the next hearing for December 15.
Mazgaon Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued a bailable warrant of Rs 15,000 as Rane failed to appear before it. The court had last month issued a process (summons) to Rane and directed him to appear before it.
In May this year, Rane had reportedly referred to Raut as a “snake” who would leave Uddhav Thackeray and join the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) by June 10, 2023.
Speaking to the media at his residence, Nitish Rane said, “This is going to create a stir in Maharashtra politics in the coming days. Sanjay Raut will join NCP on June 10.”
Rane further claimed that Sanjay Raut is Ajit Pawar’s opponent and if Ajit Pawar leaves the party, he will join NCP.
“According to the information I have received, Sanjay Raut is after Sharad Pawar because he is going to join NCP soon and hence is doing so in a hurry. Sanjay Raut has always opposed Ajit Pawar. So his only condition is that Ajit Pawar leaves the party, he will join NCP”, Rane said.
It is noteworthy that June 10 is the 25th foundation day of NCP. When Rane’s claim was made, both Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP were quick to reject it. (ANI)
