Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has sent two metric tonnes of cashew nuts to Bangladesh, an official said.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has facilitated the first consignment of cashew from Odisha to Bangladesh, the official said.
Two metric tons of premium quality cashew nuts were exported by Paaf Global Pvt. Ltd. The official said this important step not only strengthens the economic ties between the two countries but also opens new avenues for the agriculture sector in Odisha.
The shipment was flagged off by APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev in the presence of Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Arabinda Padhi, Principal Secretary, MSME Swaswat Mishra and other senior officials of the state government.
Subrata Ghosh, Managing Director, Paaf Global Limited, said, “This successful shipment not only represents a significant achievement for the cashew industry in Odisha, but also shows the potential for growth and cooperation in the agriculture sector between India and Bangladesh. “
As promised by the exporter, subsequent consignments of cashew from Odisha are being planned to be sent to some other global destinations including Bahrain and Qatar.
This initiative not only promises economic prosperity of the region, but is also in line with the broader vision of self-reliant India, entrepreneurship development and sustainable agricultural exports.
