Alert! Car with fake number roaming in the country’s capital, police searching
New Delhi: Singapore’s High Commissioner to India Simon Wong on Friday alerted the Ministry of External Affairs and Delhi Police about a fake car. He has alerted Delhi Police and Ministry of External Affairs about a car with fake Diplomatic Corps number plate of his country (Singapore). He has also shared the picture of the car. Diplomatic Corps number plate is visible on the car.
Sharing pictures of the silver colored car, the Singaporean ambassador took to Twitter and wrote, āThe car below with the 63 CD plate is fake. This is not our embassy car.ā He said that the police and the Foreign Ministry have been alerted regarding the matter. He wrote, āWe have alerted the Foreign Ministry and the police. With so many dangers around, be extra careful when you see this car abandoned. Especially at IGI (airport).ā
Wong has also tagged Delhi Police, Ministry of External Affairs and Delhi Airport in his post. In India, vehicles used for diplomatic purposes have blue number plates with white letters. These plates have the letters āCDā followed by a two-digit code and registration number.
Exclusive ownership of vehicles with CD number plates is reserved only for foreign diplomatic missions and organisations, including embassies and consulates. CD stands for āCore Diplomaticā. Let us tell you that earlier in October, Wong had pointed out a mistake in the sign board near the Singapore High Commission in Chanakyapuri. In the post, Wong had shared two photos. The name of the country was incorrectly written as āSingaporeā instead of āSingaporeā on the sign board.
āIt is always good to do a spell check first,ā Wong said on the Singapore High Commission’s official X handle. Within hours, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) took cognizance of the issue and corrected the spelling error.
