Heavy rain lashed parts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu
CHENNAI: Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram districts and other parts of Tamil Nadu received heavy rainfall and the regional meteorological center warned of more rain in at least 12 districts on Saturday.

The overnight rain caused flash floods in many parts. In the early morning, the rumble of thunder and flashes of lightning here and there welcomed the people to a wonderful day off.
Early risers completed their morning walks despite the calm weather before the skies opened up later in the day.
Chennai RMC said moderate rain with isolated thunderstorm occurred at one or two places in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram districts and coastal areas of Villupuram and Cuddalore districts and Puducherry region.
Significant rainfall in Chennai during last 1-2 hours in (mm): Taramani ARG – 45.2; Meenambakkam AWS – 26; and NIOT-Pallikaranai ARG – 23.9, it said.
