2 drug smugglers arrested in Khar and Santa Cruz East
Mumbai: Anti Narcotics Cell, Bandra Unit caught two drug peddlers in Khar and Santa Cruz East, seized 200 grams of Mephedrone and two mobile phones worth Rs. 40 lakhs. The accused were identified as Jafar Shaikh (38) and Hussain Shaikh (37).
Campaign and subsequent arrest
On November 21, the Bandra Unit carried out a massive operation resulting in the arrest of two persons on alleged drug charges in Khar and Santa Cruz East. In Khar, a person was found with Mephedrone, which led to information that he had purchased the drug from Santa Cruz East. Subsequently, another man in Santa Cruz East was caught with mephedrone, and it was revealed that he had a history of involvement in similar crimes.
A case has been registered against both of them
Bandra unit has registered a case against both the persons under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. In 2023, the Anti Narcotics Cell registered a total of 96 cases, arrested 199 people and seized drugs worth Rs. 48 crores. Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan, in-charge of Bandra Unit, and his team carried out the operation under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anti Narcotics Cell, Prakash Jadhav.
