Notice issued to ED on Sanjay Singh’s bail plea in product policy case

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Tuesday issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the bail plea of AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh in a money laundering case related to the alleged liquor irregularities case.
Rouse Avenue Court Special Judge MK Nagpal has asked the ED to file its reply by December 6 and listed the case for hearing on December 6.
In this case, the Enforcement Directorate had arrested Sanjay Singh on October 4.
Special Judge MK Nagpal had on November 24 extended the judicial custody of Sanjay Singh till December 4.
Special Public Prosecutor Naveen Kumar Matta, appearing for the ED, informed the court that the chargesheet (supplementary prosecution complaint) would be filed in the case soon and within the stipulated time limit.

Recently, the Delhi High Court rejected the petition of AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh challenging his remand and arrest in the alleged liquor irregularities case.
The ED claimed that Singh and his associates played a role in the Delhi government’s decision to grant licenses to liquor shops and traders in 2020, causing loss to the state exchequer and violating anti-corruption laws.
The ED has earlier searched several places, including the houses and offices of Sanjay Singh’s close aide Ajit Tyagi and other contractors and businessmen who allegedly benefited from the policy. In its nearly 270-page supplementary charge sheet, ED has named Sisodia as the main conspirator in this case.

The Delhi Liquor Scam case or Excise Policy case pertains to allegations that the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government’s Excise Policy 2021-22 allowed cartelization and favored certain dealers, who allegedly paid bribes for , an allegation that has been vehemently denied. You.
The ED had filed its first chargesheet in the case last year. The agency said it has conducted more than 200 search operations in the case so far after registering the FIR after taking cognizance of the CBI case registered on the recommendation of the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

The CBI probe was recommended on the findings of the Delhi Chief Secretary’s report filed in July, which prima facie showed violations of the GNCTD Act 1991, Transaction of Business Rules (TOBR) 1993, Delhi Excise Act 2009 and Delhi Excise Rules 2010 .
