Sambalpur University will start 3 new PG courses
Sambalpur: Sambalpur University is planning to start three new postgraduate (PG) courses in education, commerce and Sanskrit from the next academic session. University officials are waiting for approval from the government to start the three courses. Vice Chancellor Bidhu Bhushan Mishra said a proposal to start new courses was submitted to the government in March this year.
“The university is awaiting a response from the government and we will raise the issue again in the high-powered committee meeting to be held in February next year. “We hope to start the courses from the next academic session.”
Official sources said that as per the proposal, there will be 40 seats in education, and 32 seats each in commerce and Sanskrit PG programmes. Currently, the university is offering 35 PG programs including seven self-financing courses under 26 science and arts streams. Although the university has an education department, it offers only three-year integrated B.Ed and M.Ed courses. Is. There are many colleges affiliated with Sambalpur University offering UG courses in Education, Sanskrit and Commerce. However, only a few colleges are offering PG courses in these three subjects, due to which students are forced to go to other universities for higher studies.
A university official said the three subjects have been selected in view of the increasing demand among students. While many students from the region will get the opportunity to pursue master’s degree in these courses, it will also pave the way for research work in education, Sanskrit and commerce in the university.
