Radiation protection system installed in Mekahara’s cath lab
Raipur: Radiation protection system has been installed to provide protection to the doctors and the entire team working in the Cath Lab of Advanced Cardiac Institute located at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Smriti Hospital. This protective shield called Agnest provides protection to the medical team working in the cath lab from the harmful radiations emanating from the X-ray machine. It has been installed in the cath lab in collaboration with the cardiology department of ACI and Cardiology Company.
Giving detailed information regarding the Radiation Protection System, Head of the Department of Cardiology, Dr. Smit Srivastava said that Agnest, the entire medical team working in Cathlab and even the patient lying on the procedure table, is provided protection from harmful X-ray radiations. Will do. This protective shield is attached on all sides to the table where the cardiology procedure is performed. It is made of carbon micro fiber base and radiation absorbing metallic alloy (bismuth and antimony metals) which absorbs the harmful radiations emitted from the X-ray machine. If we are not protected from these radiations, there is a possibility of cancer, cataract and other diseases in future.
