Rahul Dravid retained as ‘head coach’ of Indian cricket team

In the latest news, BCCI has officially extended the contract of Rahul Dravid as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Along with this, the contract of the coaching staff of the national team has also been extended. Its other members include Vikram Rathod (batting coach), Paras Mhambrey (bowling coach), and T Dilip (fielding coach).

Notably, the tenure of the revised contract has not been revealed yet. However, Rahul Dravid is expected to stay at least till the end of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rahul Dravid replaced Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian cricket team following India’s ICC T20 World Cup campaign in 2021. His initial two-year tenure ended with India finishing runners-up in the recently concluded ICC ODI Cricket World Cup.

It is noteworthy that the post of head coach of the Indian cricket team was earlier given to Ashish Nehra, but he rejected the offer. Nehra is best known for his coaching success with Gujarat Titans of the IPL.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to its social media handle to officially announce the retention of Rahul Dravid along with the rest of the coaching staff.
