Opposition creates ruckus in Odisha Assembly alleging Class 10 paper leak

Bhubaneswar, (IANS) | Opposition BJP and Congress party members created ruckus in the Odisha Assembly alleging that the question paper of Class 10 board examination was leaked. However, School and Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das denied the allegation. Tributes were first paid to former MLA Birendra Pandey in the House. Soon after, members of the BJP and the Congress stormed the Speaker’s podium and created a ruckus alleging the Class 10 board exam question paper was leaked. On Monday, the opposition members demanded the resignation of minister Das, showing photocopies of the Mathematics question paper on the last day of Class 10 board exams.

Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha requested BJP and Congress members to participate in the Question Hour and raise the issue during Zero Hour. However, the opposition legislators continued their protest without paying heed to the Speaker’s request. In such a situation, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings till 4 pm.

Speaking to mediapersons outside the assembly, BJP leader Mohan Manjhi alleged that though our leader of the opposition had earlier raised the issue of question papers of history and political science subjects being leaked, no action was taken. In Puri district today again the matriculation question paper was leaked much before the commencement of the examination. So we were forced to disturb the Question Hour.

This is a sensitive matter. But the government is not giving any answer to this. He said that meritorious students would be affected by this. Manjhi demanded that the minister should accept it and resign from his post.

Alleging that a question paper leak racket is being run in the state, Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati said that a proper inquiry should be done in this direction and strict action should be taken against those involved. Further said that the government is playing with the future of the students. He demanded the resignation of Minister Das on this issue.

On the other hand, the School and Mass Education Minister denied the allegation of the opposition and said that he had spoken to the District Collector, Board officials and the Puri District Education Officer, but there was no information about the question paper leak.
