Chief Minister chairs review meeting before ‘Indian Language Day’ celebrations
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha chaired a review meeting on the celebration of Indian Languages Day to be held for the first time in the state at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala on December 11. During the meeting, he stressed on the importance of this day and urged to celebrate it through talk shows and campaigns. Saha also highlighted the need for students to understand the importance of their own language and other languages to strengthen multilingualism. Education Department’s Special Secretary Ravel Hemendra Kumar gave information about the state-wise celebrations of ‘Indian Language Day’. He said that the objective of this event is to promote love and proficiency in the 22 languages recognized by the Constitution.
He also informed that various programs are going on in schools across the state from September 28, which include competitions on eight different subjects among students of 633 schools. An online essay competition was conducted for students of classes IX to XII and the top 5 essay writers will be honored during the Indian Languages Day celebrations on December 11.
Students from various schools of Agartala are also expected to participate in these programs.
