Patnaik congratulated Modi for BJP’s victory in three states

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Union Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on BJP’s victory in three states in the recent assembly elections.
According to an official release issued by the CMO, Patnaik, who is also the president of the ruling Biju Janata Dal in Odisha, spoke to the Prime Minister over phone and conveyed his good wishes to Modi.

The BJP won the recently held assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

However, the BJD also said that the results would have no impact on Odisha politics nor the electoral prospects of the ruling party in the eastern state.

BJD vice-president Amar Patnaik said in a statement, “There is no leader of Naveen Patnaik’s stature in any state. As per my assessment, the recent elections to the state assembly will have no impact in Odisha.”

BJP is the main opposition party in Odisha.

In a press conference, BJP Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal said that the African party will form the government in Odisha next year.

Odisha Assembly elections will be held early next year along with the Lok Sabha elections.

Samal said that Modi has immense popularity in Odisha and its effect will also be visible in the surveys. Said that the state government is immersed in corruption.

“The Modi government has sanctioned around Rs 19 million to Odisha in the last nine years, but the funds were not properly utilised. Many youth have migrated to other states in search of work,” he said.

On the other hand, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sharat Patnaik said that the grand old party will oust BJD from power.

“Congress defeated a regional party in Telangana and it will be repeated in Odisha too,” Patnaik said.
