Salesman murdered over Rs 10 issue
Patnagarh: In an unfortunate incident, a salesman was beaten to death by three youths following an argument over payment of Rs 10 in Khaprakhol police limits of Balangir district yesterday.
The deceased salesman was identified as Gopal Prasad. He was working as a salesman in a Foreign Liquor (FL) off-shop.
Biswanath Niyal (28), Laxman Das (30) and Joginder Bariha (28) of Kharkhara village had reportedly gone to the liquor shop. After drinking the liquor, all three went back to buy some more liquor.
He asked for a special liquor bottle, which Gopal, who was at the counter, immediately brought and took Rs 180. However, after realizing that the price of the bottle had increased by Rs 10, he asked the trio to pay him the money.
However, all three refused to pay the money and had a heated argument with Gopal. Soon, their fight became so fierce that they dragged him out of the liquor shop and brutally beat him, causing him to bleed profusely.
As soon as information about the incident was received, Khaprakhol police reached the spot and took Gopal to Khaprakhol Community Health Center (CHC) for treatment. Later, as his condition worsened, he was shifted to Patnagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH). From there he was shifted to VIMSAR in Burla where he breathed his last during treatment.
On the other hand, the police have registered the case and arrested the accused and sent them to the court.
