Cyclone Michong disrupts air travel in coastal Andhra Pradesh
Visakhapatnam: As Cyclone Mihaung approached the coast of Andhra Pradesh, the entire region faced significant disruptions in air travel to the moon.
The airlines will take special measures, canceling and diverting multiple flights between routes. It has been confirmed the cancellation of some 20 flights that were supposed to pass through critical airports such as Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam in the context of the climatic changes related to the cyclone.
Air operations were significantly affected: Tirupati experienced the suspension of 15 flights scheduled for the day, while Visakhapatnam suspended four flights. Additionally, ten other flights did not begin operating, including five destined for Tirupati and Vijayawada.
IndiGo Airlines, in response to the impending cyclone, canceled several flights, particularly on routes connecting Vijayawada with Vizag, Vizag with Tirupati, Tirupati with Vizag and Vizag with Vijayawada.
IndiGo flight 6E-845, scheduled from Visakhapatnam to Chennai, was one of the affected flights which was abruptly stopped due to the cyclonic climatic patterns.
Other flights, including the 6E-574 to Hyderabad, the 6E-881 to Hyderabad, the 6E-7063 to Vijayawada and the 6E-6089 to Chennai, faced cancellations attributed to the inclement weather in the region.
The influence of the cyclone extended beyond Visakhapatnam and affected various parts of AP and TN.
The generalized atmospheric disturbance forced the diversion of numerous flights, causing discomfort to passengers and altering the regular schedules of air travel. It was recommended to passengers that they would be kept informed about new developments and reprogramming options.
