Jehanabad: A groom’s grand plan to fly his bride by helicopter in Bihar’s Jehanabad district faced an unexpected hurdle as the district administration refused to allow landing. The groom, identified as Navardev, had organized a beautiful entry at his wedding, but fate had other plans. The incident unfolded in Mohaddipur village in Jehanabad, where Ramanand Das, a resident, had imagined sending his daughter Dr. Megha Rani on her marital journey with a helicopter ride.
The groom, Dr Vivek Kumar from Jamshedpur, arrived with great expectations to literally see off his bride. However, an unusual solution emerged due to the administration’s refusal to permit landing. Without any fear, the couple, along with the wedding party, resorted to fulfilling the Saptapadi (seven vows) in a unique style. The helicopter, which was booked at a whopping price of Rs 9 lakh, circled the village seven times, symbolically fulfilling the sacred vows from above. After this unconventional ceremony, the bride and groom, Navradeev and Navra were forced to travel to Jamshedpur via Gaya airport.
Expressing disappointment over the administration’s decision, Ramanand Das said, “My daughter became a doctor after studying at home. At that time we had decided that we would send him by helicopter out of the savings that would accrue from the expenses of studying abroad. But the administration did not allow this.” The bride’s brother Mrityunjay Kumar had arranged for a helicopter, and even prepared a helipad in the village farm for the planned landing. However, the district administration cited security reasons for the refusal, forcing the newly married couple to take an aerial circumambulation of the village before starting their journey to Jamshedpur.
