Pakistan Navy Helicopter crashed claiming three lives; Video goes viral
Islamabad: In a devastating incident, a Pakistan Navy helicopter crashed in the southwestern city of Gwadar on Monday, resulting in the tragic loss of three crew members. The military has attributed the crash to a suspected mechanical fault.
The ill-fated helicopter was engaged in a routine training flight in the port city of Gwadar, located in Baluchistan province. Baluchistan has been a region marred by a long-standing separatist insurgency against the Pakistani government.
The Sea King aircraft met with the tragic accident during takeoff at approximately 10:00 am local time (0500 GMT). Preliminary findings, shared with AFP by a military source, indicate that the helicopter experienced an engine fire and lost its rear tail.
Tragically, the incident claimed the lives of two officers and one enlisted man who were on board the aircraft. The navy spokesman confirmed that the accident was possibly due to a technical malfunction.
Earlier in September 2022, Baluchistan witnessed a similar tragedy when six servicemen lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the town of Khost.
The Pakistan Navy and authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
