A horrific road accident in Tirupur district, six people died in a car-lorry collision.

Tamil Nadu: Six people were killed in a tragic road accident in the Kurukkathi area near Vellakovil in Tirupur district on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred on the national highway from Vellakovil to Karur when a car and a lorry collided violently. The impact was so severe that both vehicles lost control and crashed into a nearby police checkpoint.
The incident occurred near Kurukkathi, located on the border of Tirupur and Karur districts. A police checkpoint is located along the national highway in this area, used for vehicle inspections.
According to eyewitnesses, the policemen were on their regular duty in the morning when a speeding car collided with an oncoming lorry. After the collision, both vehicles lost control and crashed directly into the police checkpoint. The accident was so sudden that no one had time to react.
The collision between the car and the lorry created chaos at the scene. Upon hearing the sound of the collision, locals and police personnel immediately rushed to the scene and began rescue operations.
Six people, including a police officer and a passenger in the car, were killed in the accident. All the injured were rescued with the help of locals and police, but their lives could not be saved due to their serious injuries. The accident triggered an atmosphere of grief and tension in the entire area.
Senior police officers arrived at the scene upon receiving information and assessed the situation. Initial investigations suggest the accident was likely caused by speeding and sudden changes in the road conditions. However, the police clarified that the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation.
The police have sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examination and informed their families. Traffic was restored to normal by removing both vehicles. A traffic jam persisted on the highway for some time, but was later controlled.
