A lorry caught fire in the middle of the road near Dharmapuri.

Tamil Nadu: A lorry caught fire in the middle of the road in the Thoppur area near Dharmapuri on Thursday.
A Taurus truck carrying stones from Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, was on its way to Kerala on Thursday morning. When it reached the Thoppur Anjaneya Temple area in Dharmapuri district, smoke was seen emanating from the truck’s gearbox. Seeing this, the truck driver, Silambarasan, stopped the truck on the side of the road. Upon inspecting the source of the smoke, he discovered that the gearbox had caught fire. He attempted to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful, so he immediately got out of the truck.
Subsequently, the lorry caught fire and was soon engulfed in flames. Local residents informed the Dharmapuri Fire Department and the Thoppur Police Station.
The fire department arrived at the scene and attempted to put out the fire. However, most of the truck was already destroyed by the flames. Later, the truck was removed from the road with the help of a crane.
The incident caused a traffic jam on the Dharmapuri-Salem National Highway for over two hours. The Thoppur police have registered a case and are investigating.
