A regional officer and two private persons arrested in bribery case
Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a regional officer of the Central Board of Film Certification, Bengaluru, and two private individuals in an alleged bribery case. The arrested accused have been identified as Prashanth Kumar, Regional Officer, Central Board of Film Certification, Bangalore and two other private individuals identified as Prithvi Raj and Ravi.
Complainant filmmaker Tiger Nag, who has directed and produced a film named Aadavi, has said that he is being refused a censor certificate for several days. He alleged that the accused would keep demanding money for issuing the certificates.
The case was registered on a complaint against a regional officer of the Central Board of Film Certification, Bengaluru, and others, including two private individuals, for demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000. It was further alleged that the accused later reduced the bribe to Rs 12,000 for issuing a censor certificate by the regional officer to correct minor issues related to subtitles of a film directed and produced by the complainant. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from the complainant.
The premises of the Regional Officer were searched, resulting in recovery of Rs 3 lakh. All the arrested accused are being produced before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bengaluru today.
