A young man preparing for NEET committed suicide by hanging himself
Kota. A student from Uttar Pradesh, who was preparing for the medical entrance examination in Kota, died during treatment and was admitted to a hospital here two days ago due to high sugar levels and high blood pressure. Officials gave this information on Sunday. Shivam Raghav (21), from Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, was living in Kota for the last three years and was preparing for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) and was living in a hostel in Landmark City located in Kunhadi police station area of Kota.
Kunhadi police station sub-inspector Rajaram said the student was suffering from high sugar level and high blood pressure for the last six months and was admitted to MBS (Maharaja Bhim Singh) hospital on Friday after his condition deteriorated. He told that Raghav’s condition was continuously deteriorating in the hospital, due to which he was shifted to ICU, where he died on Sunday morning. After conducting post-mortem of the body, the police handed it over to his family members. Police have registered a case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
According to Raghav’s family, he had passed the NEET exam last year, but could not get admission in any government medical college. This is the second incident of such death of a student in Kota in the last four days. Earlier on Thursday, Jamshedpur resident Preneet Raj Roy (18), a class 12 student, suddenly fell ill in his ‘paying guest’ (PG) room, after which he was taken to MBS Hospital where he died. Roy’s father Rajiv Ranjan Roy, who reached Kota to collect his body after post-mortem, has demanded an impartial investigation into his son’s death so that the exact cause of death can be known.
