A youth fell at Akaltara railway station and died in hospital due to serious injuries
Janjgir-Champa: A tragic accident occurred near Akaltara railway station in Chhattisgarh on Sunday, leaving a young man, Ankush Leela Ram Sunawane, seriously injured and later died during treatment. Locals immediately alerted the Akaltara GRP team, who arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to the community health center. The young man’s serious injuries prevented his survival. The deceased was a resident of Nave village in Gondia district, Maharashtra. According to reports, four young men had traveled to Sambalpur, Odisha, for work.
After work, one of them returned home by car, and the other three by train. Ankush was traveling on the Suraj Express, traveling via Jharsuguda and Raigarh, and arrived at Akaltara station. Falling asleep at night, he sat on the train’s gate. Just before Akaltara, the train jolted and fell. Locals reported that despite the injured man’s deteriorating condition, he was not referred to a larger hospital. Despite being told of the financial responsibility, he was not taken for timely treatment. Due to this negligence, the young man was seriously injured and died during treatment.
Ankush was accompanied by other companions on the train at the time of the accident, but they were at a different location at the time of the accident. Sitting at the train gate, Ankush suddenly lost his balance and fell near the railway track. Upon receiving the information, the Akaltara GRP team immediately arrived at the scene and, after identifying the injured, took him to the Community Health Center. The young man was identified by his Aadhaar card. Upon learning of the incident, the deceased’s family was plunged into mourning. Ankush’s death has brought grief to the family. This accident, just before Holi, has brought a tragic situation to the family and the village. The police have prepared an inquest report and sent the body for post-mortem.
The Akaltara GRP stated that an investigation has been initiated. Preliminary information suggests that the accident occurred due to a lack of safety and caution during train travel. Police are investigating the entire incident and interviewing witnesses to determine the exact cause. Local residents are also concerned about this incident and are demanding that railway officials maintain special vigilance at train gates and platforms to ensure passenger safety. Strict enforcement of warnings and safety measures at railway stations is being emphasized for passengers who fall asleep or inadvertently sit on gates. The incident has raised serious concerns among passengers and locals about rail safety and vigilance. The railway and police authorities are now conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.
