Korukonda Drug Control Department raided a medicine shop

Korukonda: The Drug Control Department conducted a surprise raid on drug stores in Balimela town, Malkangiri district, on Wednesday morning.

The inspection team was led by Koraput Assistant Drug Controller Priyaranjan Nayak, along with Malkangiri District Drug Inspector Prabin Kumar Jani and other officials. According to Nayak, there are nine licensed drug stores in Balimela town. At the time of the inspection, four were found closed, while the remaining five were inspected.

During the inspection, officials found that four of the five stores were illegally selling contraceptive pills without a doctor’s prescription. The department has issued notices to the respective shop owners.

Nayak warned that if such violations are repeated in the future, the licenses of the drug stores in question will be revoked.
