Abhishek Bachchan reveals he was the ‘bone in the kebab’ in Sonali-Goldie Behl’s love story
New Delhi (IANS). Actor Abhishek Bachchan has shared about his friendship with Sonali Bendre and her husband Goldie Behl and how he played a key role in bringing the two together.
Abhishek will be seen in the upcoming episode of dance reality show ‘India’s Best Dancer 3’. One of the highlights of the episode will be the hilarious banter between old friends Abhishek and Sonali.
Abhishek recalled how he was the “bone in the kebab” between Sonali and filmmaker Goldie Behl.
Abhishek jokingly said, “My sister-in-law Sonali is sitting right next to me. I chose Goldie as a husband for her. She is a very close friend of mine and I would like to take credit for that. I was the bone in the kebab. I really I was not Cupid for him, but I used to talk to Goldie when he was shooting for Sonali Bendre starrer ‘Angaare’.
Abhishek said, “I think they met for the first time and I remember Goldie used to talk to me at that time and said that Sonali is very nice.”
Sonali replied, “Yes, Abhishek played a very important role in our love story. During ‘Major Saab’, Abhishek was such a sweet human being who used to take care of us so much that we used to have a lot of fun.”
Known for his directorial ventures ‘Drona’, ‘Rejects’, Goldie married Sonali Bendre on 12 November 2002. Their son Ranveer Behl was born on 11 August 2005. Abhishek too recalled his initial days in the industry and shared how a prank played by Sonali and Ajay Devgn during the shoot of ‘Major Saab’ made him laugh.
He said, “Mr Amitabh Bachchan was doing a film called ‘Major Saab’. Sonali was the heroine and we had formed a bond at that time. He used to threaten me, Ajay and Sonali.”
Abhishek said, “Once we were shooting in Australia, and everyone said tomorrow is a holiday, let’s go watch a movie. I took tickets and waited for him outside, but he didn’t turn up. He was at the hotel. We were sitting and laughing. They were asking how was the film. At that time, I had no money; I thought of selling tickets in black on the streets of Australia… just kidding.”
This weekend, on the 76th Independence Day, India’s Best Dancer 3 will celebrate with much fanfare as the contestants along with their choreographers pay tribute to the patriotic dance in the ‘Azaadi Ki Kahani’ special. Actress Saiyami Kher will also be present on this occasion.
The show will also welcome Mahalakshmi Iyer, Kavita Seth, Shaan, Bikram Ghosh and Hariharan who will be here to promote their upcoming song ‘Yeh Desh’.
The episode will take the viewers on a heartwarming journey through history as the talented contestants, along with their choreographers, will throw light on the stories of our respected and iconic leaders who were instrumental in bringing revolution and change.
