According to the Government of India, the prices of edible oil are at the lowest level in one year.

The Central Government has given a big update regarding the prices of edible oil in the Parliament. The government has said that the prices of refined sunflower oil, refined soyabean oil and refined palmolein oil have come down significantly in the last one year. Under this, refined sunflower oil has become cheaper by 29 per cent, refined soybean oil by 19 per cent and palmolein oil by 25 per cent.
Why did edible oil become cheaper?
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on behalf of the government, it has been told that due to the steps taken by the central government and the continuous decline in global prices, the prices of edible oil have come down. Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has given this information in a written reply. He has also claimed that the central government is keeping a close watch on the domestic prices of edible oil so that the benefit of fall in international prices can be passed on to the common consumers of the country.
Due to the continuous efforts of the government, the prices have come down.
In his written reply, Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has said that the government is constantly trying to pass on the benefits of savings on retail prices to the customers. In addition, the government is in talks with industry leaders and institutions to fix domestic prices at par with international price cuts. Significantly, in recent years, the government has reduced the import duty on these to reduce the domestic prices.
common consumer benefited
The reduction in international prices of Crude Sunflower Oil, Crude Soybean Oil and Crude Palmolein Oil as well as steps taken by the Government have brought relief to the common consumer. For the last one year, there has been a significant reduction in their prices. Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said that the prices of refined sunflower oil, refined soybean oil and refined palmolein oil have decreased by 29.04 per cent, 18.98 per cent and 25.43 per cent respectively.
