Action taken against illegal excavation in Mahanadi sand ghat

Baloda Bazar. On the instructions of Collector Deepak Soni, the Mineral Flying Squad and the district-level task force are continuously investigating and taking action against illegal sand mining and transportation in the district. In this connection, the Mineral Department team registered a case and took action after a person was found illegally excavating sand using a chain mountain machine at the Siriadih Mahanadi River sand ghat in the village of Siriadih.

According to information received from the Mining Officer, the Mineral Flying Squad has taken prompt action on complaints regarding illegal mining, transportation, and storage of minerals. In the past month, the Mineral Flying Squad has registered one case of illegal sand mining and 37 cases of illegal transportation. As of November of the financial year 2025-26, a settlement amount of ₹1,85,99,423 has been deposited in the mineral fund in a total of 543 cases. Currently, the Mahanadi River, Jonk River, and Shivnath River are being inspected daily in the district. No machine-based sand mining has been detected anywhere in the district.
