Action taken against violation of rules in selling uniforms and books
District Administration Jammu in collaboration with Legal Metrology and Labor Department today conducted surprise inspection and stopped operation of some major establishments selling school uniforms and books in violation of mandatory norms.
The inspection team led by Additional DC Jammu Anasuya Jamwal closed the operations of U Mart Uniform Shop in Kachhi Cantonment, NE Uniform in Kachhi Cantonment, Sahitya Sangam in Bahu Plaza and PCM in Kunjwani till improvements are made.
These establishments were selling school uniforms and books without mandatory declaration as per the Legal Metrology Act and were also found guilty of violating labor laws. Moreover, violations of the Legal Metrology Act were found on ‘student uniforms’ near the Green Belt Park. A case was registered and the uniform was seized by the inspection team.
SDM in inspection team; Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Jaideep Singh; Assistant Labor Commissioner Rupali Jasrotia and DPO Trilochan Singh were constituted to conduct random market checks to ensure that there is no overcharging of rates or any other illegal activity by shopkeepers selling books/uniforms.
