Activa rider arrested with heroin, worth lakhs of rupees

Bhilai. Durg Police’s action against the drug dealer is ongoing. About 6 grams of drug heroin (Chitta) and vehicle Activa, sale amount of Rs 39,400 as well as electronic weighing machine were recovered from the smuggler’s possession from Vaishali Nagar police station area.

Controlling crimes and maintaining peace is the priority of the district police. Amidst the ever increasing population of the district and increasing number of vehicles, Durg Police has been successful in controlling crime through its various awareness campaigns and legal actions. In the year 2022, a total of 7411 crimes were registered, in comparison to that, in the year 2023, a total of 6555 crimes were registered in a district, thus there has been a 12% decrease in the crimes committed in comparison to the previous year. This year, out of the crimes registered, 83% of the crimes have been resolved, and 7% of the challans have been prepared, thus a total of 90% of the crimes have been resolved, for quick resolution of the remaining crimes, the concerned police station Those in charge have been directed.

As per the intention of the government, a campaign was launched against the people related to drug trade in the district and action was taken against those selling and transporting intoxicants (ganja, brown sugar and intoxicants) and illegal liquor. In the year 2022, 2567 liters of illicit liquor was seized, in comparison to that in the year 2023, 10763 liters of illicit liquor was seized under the Excise Act while selling/transporting it. Success has been achieved in seizing 530 boxes of liquor worth Rs 52,42,500 in a truck smuggling illegal liquor under the police station.

Similarly, in the year 2022, 107 kg in 46 cases under NDPS Act. Ganja and 120 grams of brown sugar have been recovered, 72 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act in the year 2023, in which 410 kg. Ganja, 233 grams of brown sugar and 152 grams of heroin have been recovered. Compared to the previous year, 55% more action has been taken under the NDPS Act.
