Actor RK Suresh directed to file affidavit
Chennai: The Madras High Court in Chennai has directed actor and BJP functionary RK Suresh to file an affidavit on his return to India in connection with the Arudha gold scam case. The actor moved the Madras High Court (MHC) seeking quashing of the lookout notice initiated by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW), Chennai, in the Arrudh gold scam case. The case was listed before Justice G Jayachandran. The petitioner argued that he had no connection with Aarudha and said that the bank transactions with Russo, one of the accused in the scam case, were purely for film production only. Suresh also said that he is currently in Dubai with his family and is afraid to step into India due to the look out notice issued by the EOW. Suresh’s lawyer argued that he would return to India soon to file the affidavit. After the presentation the judge directed the actor to file an affidavit and adjourned the case to November 8. The EOW had registered a case against the directors of Arudhara Gold Trading Firm, through which the persons involved had defrauded more than one lakh depositors and swindled around Rs. Rs 2,438 crore, promising huge interest on their investment. The EOW also issued a lookout notice against Suresh as the arrested accused Russo had named the actor in connection with the scam.
