Actor Teena Sravya Apologies For Medaram Incident

Actress Teena Sravya, of ‘Committee Kurrallu’ and ‘The Great Pre Wedding Show’ fame, has issued a public apology in response to the controversy that arose in the backdrop of the Medaram fair. Recently, she paid obeisance by weighing jaggery (gold) equal to the weight of her pet dog at the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma temple. The controversy erupted after the video of this was shared on social media. The issue became a topic of discussion as netizens expressed their anger saying that paying obeisance by placing a dog in a basket as per tribal customs is an insult to the deities and hurts the sentiments of the devotees.
Tina Sravya released a video message explaining the controversy. She said that her pet dog is 12 years old and had recently undergone surgery for a large tumor and she prayed to the goddess to recover from a life-threatening condition. She explained that she did this act out of devotion and that she did not intend to offend anyone. She later realized that this was wrong according to Medaram traditions and asked for a heartfelt apology if she had hurt anyone’s feelings. The controversy ended with her assurance that she would not allow such mistakes to happen in the future and would always respect our traditions.
