Mumbai (IANS). Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj said that adapting a book is about the deep connection one feels while reading it. At the core of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Netflix film ‘Khufiya’ is an ‘Escape to Nowhere’ non-fiction narrative with an unwavering commitment to detail and a deep respect for its source material.
Talking about the creative process of bringing the book into a screen adaptation, Bhardwaj shared, “Bringing a book to the screen is not about what you initially think, it’s about that deep connection when you read it.” It’s about what you feel. Committing to this process is physically and emotionally difficult, even more difficult than marriage.”
He further added, “‘Khufiya’ takes me into uncharted territory, exploring espionage, which is a new genre for me. It is an exciting journey of creative discovery, which has given me a fresh and encouraging perspective on my directorial journey. has expanded my creative horizons and challenged me in ways I didn’t expect.”
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, ‘Khufiya’ starring Tabu, Ali Fazal and Wamiqa Gabbi releases on Netflix on October 5.
