Adilabad: Wildlife photographer spots Black-naped Monarch

Adilabad: Town-based wildlife photographer Lingampalli Krishna on Sunday captured a photograph of a black-throated emperor bird in the forests of Ankoli Village in Adilabad rural mandal. Krishna claimed that the beautiful bird, easily recognisable due to its blue colour, was seen for the first time in the forests of the district. He said the bird is seen in tropical southern Asia from Iran and Sri Lanka to Indonesia and the Philippines. He said the species is usually found in dense forests and other well-forested habitats.
The self-taught wildlife photographer has recorded over 100 bird species, including some migratory and rare species, in the Kosai forests of Thalamadugu mandal and has captured photographs of 100 winged wonders in various parts of the forests of the erstwhile Adilabad district. The black-throated emperor bird has been photographed in other districts of Telangana, including the forests of Mahabubabad and Ananthagiri Hills in Vikarabad, besides some forests in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
