AI generated image of ‘Sharam’ Paneer by Amul goes viral
In recent news, AI generated image of ‘Sharm’ Paneer by Amul took social media by storm. The viral photo shows a person holding a packet of paneer labeled ‘Sharm’ paneer in one hand. There is also ‘Amul’ logo on the packet. Specifically, the word ‘Sharam’ means ‘shame’ in Hindi.
Soon after the AI generated image of Amul’s ‘Sharam’ paneer went viral, Amul company immediately issued a public clarification. Addressing the situation, Amul clarified that the image was generated by AI, and was definitely fake. The company specifically stated that the image was created without their consent or knowledge.
He also clarified that the post was used to spread misinformation and create irrelevant fear and anxiety among the general public. Amul company further wrote, “We request you to please share this message with your friends and family and reassure them about the goodness of Amul Paneer.” Take a look at the post here:
However, the situation turned out to be quite a farce. With Amul posting the clarification on its official social media handles, the internet got the space to express its views on this.
Comments on the viral photo and Amul’s post ranged from ridiculous statements to serious ones. While some people made fun of the situation, some noted how this could prove to be a good PR strategy. One person sarcastically wrote, “Thank you for clarifying Amul. “Otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to detect it.”
