AI University to be set up in Bhagalpur; industrial zone to span 400 acres.
Bhagalpur: The state government has announced a major initiative aimed at fostering new possibilities in the sectors of higher education, industry, and employment in Bihar. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary stated that, keeping modern technology and evolving industrial needs in mind, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computer Science University will be established in Bhagalpur. Additionally, to boost industrial growth in the district, an industrial zone spanning approximately 400 acres will be developed this year. The Deputy Chief Minister made these announcements on Wednesday during a function held at Kasil village in the Goradih block of Bhagalpur district.
The event was organized to mark the inauguration of 211 new degree colleges across the state. The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the government is continuously working to strengthen the education system in Bihar. The launch of these new degree colleges will provide students in the state with better opportunities to pursue higher education within their own region. He emphasized that the government’s goal is to ensure the availability of quality higher education facilities in every block, thereby eliminating the need for students to travel to distant cities for their studies.
The Deputy Chief Minister noted that the roles of technical education and skill development are rapidly growing in importance today. The global significance of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, and digital technology is constantly rising. In light of this, plans have been formulated to establish an AI and Computer Science University in Bhagalpur. He stated that this institution would play a pivotal role in connecting the youth with modern technology, creating new employment opportunities, and advancing Bihar in the technological sector.
He mentioned that the university would promote courses based on modern technology, enabling students from the state to prepare for national and international-level competition. Education and research in fields such as AI, machine learning, data science, cybersecurity, and computer technology will be encouraged. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed hope that this initiative would provide a new direction for the youth of Bhagalpur and the entire state of Bihar.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also made a significant announcement regarding industrial development. He stated that an industrial zone covering approximately 400 acres would be developed in Bhagalpur. The establishment of this industrial zone will encourage the setting up of new industries in the district and create employment opportunities for local youth. He stated that the government’s objective is not merely to expand education but also to link it with employment and industries.
He mentioned that the government is strengthening infrastructure to boost investment in Bihar. The development of new industrial zones will provide opportunities for the establishment of small, medium, and large-scale industries. This will generate local employment and strengthen the state’s economy.
During the ceremony, the Chief Minister also inaugurated new degree colleges established across 211 blocks of the state. The new academic session in these colleges commenced on Wednesday. The government asserts that the opening of these institutions will provide higher education facilities to a large number of students. Students from rural areas, who were previously unable to pursue studies in major cities due to financial or other constraints, will particularly benefit from this initiative.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister remarked that education is the cornerstone of any state’s development. The government is focusing intently on expanding higher education alongside school education. Through these new degree colleges, facilities for studying various subjects—including Arts, Science, and Commerce—will be made available.
