Alert regarding Bihar Bandh, Chief Secretary instructed District Magistrates and SP for 24-hour monitoring
Patna: In view of the ‘Bihar Bandh’ called by AISA for July 25, the state government has heightened security measures. Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit has instructed all District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to monitor the situation in their respective districts round-the-clock. He directed officials to ensure that law and order is not compromised under any circumstances and stated that anti-social elements would not be permitted to create any form of chaos.
The Chief Secretary clarified that the state government is closely monitoring the entire situation. Administrative and police officials across all districts have been directed to maintain special vigilance at sensitive locations and remain prepared to handle any untoward incidents. He emphasized that the safety of the general public is the government’s top priority and that strict action will be taken against those who disturb the peace.
In anticipation of the ‘Bihar Bandh’, the administration has strengthened security arrangements. Police deployments in the districts have been increased, and officials have been instructed to conduct regular field patrols to assess the situation. Directives have been issued to maintain special surveillance at railway stations, bus terminals, government offices, markets, and other key locations.
These instructions come in the wake of violent incidents reported during protests in several districts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday. Protesters engaged in vandalism and attempted to damage government property at various locations. Police personnel, officials, and media persons were also targeted in some areas. Following these events, the administration decided to exercise extra vigilance regarding law and order.
According to officials, while protests and agitations are part of the democratic process, violence, vandalism, and damage to government property are unacceptable under any circumstances. The administration stated that the rights of peaceful protesters would be respected, but strict action would be taken against those who violate the law.
The Chief Secretary has directed District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to continue gathering local intelligence and to bring any potential situation of tension under control in a timely manner. He instructed officials to maintain better coordination between the police and the administration so that any challenging situation could be handled effectively.
Political and social activities have intensified across various parts of the state regarding the ‘Bihar Bandh’. The administration states that necessary measures are being taken to ensure the general public faces no inconvenience during the shutdown. Officials have also been directed to ensure the smooth functioning of emergency services.
The police headquarters has also alerted all districts. Police officers have been instructed to increase patrolling in sensitive areas and keep a close watch on rumors circulating on social media. Officials note that misleading information can often trigger tension; therefore, special vigilance is being maintained regarding such activities.
The administration has appealed to the public not to believe rumors and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. Officials emphasized that public cooperation plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order.
In light of recent violent incidents, the government has made it clear that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. Legal action will be taken against those identified as perpetrators of violence under the guise of protests. The administration has stated that those damaging public property will be dealt with strictly.
