Allegations of neglect in AIADMK: Former Speaker Dhanapal’s statement, expressed happiness over son becoming minister

Tamil Nadu: The issue of defection and rhetoric has once again surfaced in Tamil Nadu politics. Dhanapal, the former state Assembly Speaker and senior leader, has stated that he left the AIADMK a long time ago because he was not given due importance within the party.

Dhanapal made this statement while speaking to reporters after attending the swearing-in ceremony held on Thursday. He said that he and several other leaders had been neglected within the party for a long time, leading to growing discontent.

Meanwhile, his son, Lokesh Tamilselvan, recently left the AIADMK and joined the Thaveka Party. After joining the party, Lokesh Tamilselvan was nominated as the candidate for the Rasipuram Assembly seat and, after winning the election, was also given a ministerial position.

Dhanapal stated in his statement that he faced constant neglect within the AIADMK. He alleged that the party leadership had ignored several leaders and workers, which had affected the party’s grassroots presence. He also said that due to this situation, people are gradually distancing themselves from the party.

He explained that his son, Thaveka, has now joined the party and become a minister, which he is personally pleased with. Dhanapal said that he has held several important positions in his political career, but is currently taking a break from active politics for some time due to health reasons.

The former Speaker also admitted that he left the AIADMK in a state of “disappointment and frustration.” He said that it is unfortunate that the party, once considered strong, appears to be weakening internally.

Dhanapal’s statement has reignited political turmoil in Tamil Nadu. While his son’s appointment as a minister is being seen as the emergence of a new political generation, his separation from the AIADMK is being seen as a reflection of ongoing discontent within the party.

He concluded by stating that he is currently taking a break from active participation due to health reasons, but will decide his future role based on circumstances.
