Amidst Kanwar Yatra, top officials of Muzaffarnagar marched on foot with ATS commando unit
Muzaffarnagar District Magistrate (DM), Arvind Mallappa Bangari and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Singh on Saturday took out a foot march along with the ATS commando unit during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra and said that all policemen have been deployed at various points to ensure that the yatra takes place without any hindrance. “As you know that the Kanwar Yatra is at its peak and a lot of Kanwar pilgrims are coming to Muzaffarnagar, we had made appropriate preparations even before it started. Our policemen as well as our personnel from other departments are engaged in ensuring that there are no difficulties during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. We are trying to ensure that all our policemen are properly deployed at the duty points,” he said. Muzaffarnagar DM Arvind Mallappa Bangari SSP Abhishek Singh said, “Our ATS’s Spot Commando Unit is UP’s counter strike team. If there is any terror attack anywhere in the state, this team is deployed first. They have been deployed especially in Muzaffarnagar because as you know, there is always a threat of terror attack in all religious yatras… All Kanwariyas come from Haridwar, about 50 percent of Kanwariyas pass through Muzaffarnagar and at the place where I am standing, all the Kanwariyas coming from other states are separated.” He further stressed that full preparations have been made to thwart terror attacks. He said, “Behind me is Shiv Chowk, where there is going to be a lot of crowd and on the day of Shivratri, this entire area will be jam packed. If any terrorist organization has such a conspiracy, then all these preparations have been made to foil it… ATS and STF teams are also continuously working on this and if any attack takes place here, like an IED attack, then our BDDS and ATS have a special commander unit to deal with them immediately, through which they will be neutralized…”
